MIGAN: Memory of the Islands Gateway for Archival Networking

The Caribbean Archives Association in association with the MIGAN Project is pleased to announce a four day workshop entitled, “DESIGNING WEBSITES FOR ARCHIVES: PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE” to be held in French St. Martin between 2nd and 5th June, 2015.

The workshop will be held in both English and French and will provide an introduction to standards, protocols and best practices for developing and maintaining archival websites. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to make strategic choices for managing websites, particularly with reference to structure, content and digital curation.

Sessions will be led by Mrs. Lucile Grand, National Archives of France and by Mrs. Kerstin Arnold, National Archives of Germany – both Country Managers for Archives Portal Europe (APEx). Max Scriwanek, Director of the Curacao National Archives and Mr. Frederic Robinson of Banque Numérique des Patrimoines Martiniquais will make presentations about their own experiences developing archival websites.

The Workshop will be organized by the Martinique and St. Martin Archives staff who will circulate a detailed programme and registration forms shortly. The Workshop will be offered free of charge and will include sponsored attendance for CARBICA members that will cover airfare and five nights’ accommodation, subject to the following conditions:

  • Dues must be paid in full until 31st December 2014
  • Administrative information (according to the ISDIAH standard) about your institution with permission to mount the information on the MIGAN website
